US Census Bureau Counts On Beyond 20/20
Orders 115,000 Beyond 20/20 Browsers from Ivation Datasystems
Ottawa, Canada – September 1, 2000 – Ivation Datasystems Inc. announced today that one of the world’s largest statistical agencies, the US Census Bureau, has licensed an additional 115,000 copies of Ivation’s Beyond 20/20 Browser. Used in over 40 countries, Beyond 20/20 is the preferred tool of many of the world’s most prestigious statistical agencies and publishers for disseminating, viewing, and manipulating numeric data.
The US Census Bureau has used Beyond 20/20 for a number of years to disseminate statistical information to very large external audiences. With Beyond 20/20, end users can more easily view and more effectively manipulate data. These 115,000 licenses are largely intended to disseminate American Community Survey data; a number will also be used for other data products related to economics, demographics, and the population. The audience for these CD-ROMs includes other government departments, educational institutions, non-profit organizations, businesses, and interested individuals.
“Somebody once said that ‘Volume makes standards.’ This order clearly extends the reach of Beyond 20/20,” said Jean Carr, Vice President of Marketing and Sales for Ivation. “We’ve been working very hard to better serve statistical agencies and census operations worldwide. This order rewards our efforts because it increases our market share, permits us to continue investing in our product to make it better for all users, and moves us closer to our goal of being a worldwide standard.”
The Beyond 20/20 Browser is a member of the Beyond 20/20 family of Windows and Web products, which are used worldwide for enhanced data sharing and more effective data use. The Beyond 20/20 Browser licensed by the US Census Bureau is a Windows application that enables users to view data from a variety of dimensions such as age, gender, income level, and location while drilling down, filtering, and sorting the data in order to make interesting discoveries. For example, users can quickly determine how income levels for people between the ages of 25 and 34 vary by state and gender. The Browser also allows users to group and subset data, perform such calculations as sums, averages, minimums, and maximums, and display time series in tabular, graphical, and geographic (map) views. Beyond 20/20 is an excellent data delivery product because it permits users to export data to other formats for further analysis. And Beyond 20/20 now includes extended features for metadata and missing values.
