Beyond 20/20 Insights: October 2002

New and Exciting Contract!

Beyond 20/20 is part of the winning consortium to build a dissemination product for the U.S. Census Bureau. The project, The Census Transportation Planning Package, will be a joint venture between Beyond 20/20, Digital Engineering Corp and the Centech Group Inc.

Beyond 20/20 will be supplying the data table manipulation with a customized Beyond 20/20 desktop Browser. Digital Engineering Corp. will be supplying mapping using ESRI's Map Objects package. Their mapping includes drill down to the street names and many other functionalities.

The Beyond 20/20 Services team will be customizing the Beyond 20/20 Browser and using the Beyond 20/20 Toolkit to replace the current mapping component with the functionality provided by Map Objects.

This project involves data from the 2000 Census and is used to plan traffic patterns and traffic flows within major US centres. It is anticipated that there will be 50,000 to 60,000 CDs distributed across the US.

Announcing New Releases on October 18, 2002

Beyond 20/20 Web Data Server 6.2

Beyond 20/20's Web Data Server version 6.2 will be released on October 18, 2002.

Here are some of the great new features:

View More - Now publish IVTs with up to 500,000 items in a dimension.

Control Report Order - Control the order of reports as seen by your users. Organize reports within folders in the order you wish.

Finding Answers Faster - Improved searching will help your users quickly find the reports that contain the information they need. Searchable fields now include dimension and item names as well as summaries.

Decide Who Sees What - Administrators will be able to create groups of users and give them access to a specific folder. Only group members will see the folder and its reports.

Publishing Made Easy! - A new IVT publishing wizard gives you the ultimate in control and ease-of-use when publishing tables to WDS. IVT Publisher allows you to:

  • Define a customized view of your table while publishing.
  • Automatically produce a folder system based on the category or author of the tables you are publishing.
  • Define the report name in multiple languages.
  • Easily publish to all users, to a specific user, or to a specific user group.

Sort, Sort, Sort - Users are no longer limited to sorting only on the first column. They can produce the exact view they are interested in by sorting on any column in a report.

Beyond 20/20 Builder 6.2

Beyond 20/20's Builder version 6.2 will be released on October 18, 2002.

Here are some of the great new features:

Raising the Limits - Now build IVTs with up to 500,000 items in a single dimension. This new increase allows publishers to easily publish region data down to the smallest geography.

Recode and Reuse - Enhancements to recoding functionality allow end users to save a recode definition and reuse it. Users can also select only the items within a source field that they want to tabulate on and save that definition.

Expanded Profile Feature - Profile functionality has been expanded to include group structures.

New Downgrade Utility - Build IVTs and set them to version 5.2 for compatibility with current and earlier versions of the Browser. This feature only applies to IVTs where each of the dimensions contains less than 64,000 items.

Beyond 20/20 Professional Browser 6.2

Beyond 20/20 Professional Browser 6.2 will also be released on October 18, 2002.

Here are some of the great new features:

Expanded Profile Feature - Profile functionality has been expanded to include group structures.

Upcoming Events

Beyond 20/20 User Conference in Paris

Beyond 20/20 is pleased to announce its first annual User Conference in Paris, France. This conference will be on October 22-23, 2002 at the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) office.

The objective of this conference is to offer an agenda that will facilitate an exchange of ideas and solutions among our many users worldwide. This will give them the opportunity to learn how Beyond 20/20 can help their organization.

This meeting will be in English and French with simultaneous translation offered.

Online Information 2002

Beyond 20/20 is teaming up with, Forvus, a Beyond 20/20 Solutions Partner, for Online Information 2002 in the U.K.
