New Beyond 20/20 Web Data Server Client, see it in Action!

Recently the Swiss Federal Statistical Office (SFSO), a Beyond 20/20 client, started using the Beyond 20/20 Web Data Server on their Web site, for the dissemination of statistics in the agriculture and forestry sectors. To make it even more exciting, the site is open to the public!

The SFSO coordinates statistical production across the board, ensuring data comparability and drawing up a multi-year statistical program. It liaises with cantonal, municipal and international statistical producers, as well as with research facilities, industry and management, and labour. It produces statistical information on virtually all 19 sectors covered by official statistics, conducting surveys among individuals or legal entities, interpreting registers, or synthesizing statistics. It analyses, interprets, and publishes statistical information, which is then disseminated - depending on the target audience - using such media as press releases, hard-copy publications, databases, and the Internet.

Visit this site and see how Beyond 20/20 can make a difference for your organization.

Beyond 20/20 would like to thank Diabase, our partner in France, for all their help in making SFSO a Beyond 20/20 client.

Technical Advancements

Sneak Peek at the New Features in the Upcoming Beyond 20/20 Web Data Server 6.1

The Beyond 20/20 Web Data Server (WDS) 6.1 will be released in early June. Here are some of the great new features of the upcoming WDS 6.1:

Finding Answers Faster - Improved searching will help your users quickly find the reports that contain the information they need. Searching will now identify reports that contain search terms in any component of the report. In addition, the help file will contain information on how a very specific search can be conducted.

Decide Who Sees What - Administrators will be able to create groups of users and give them access to specific folders. Only group members will see the folder and its reports.

Publishing made easy! - A new IVT publishing wizard gives you the ultimate in control and ease-of-use when publishing tables to WDS. IVT Publisher allows you to:

  • Define a customized view of your table while publishing.
  • Automatically produce a folder system based on the category or author of the tables you are publishing.
  • Define the report name in multiple languages.
  • Easily publish to all users, to a specific user, or to a specific user group.

Sort, Sort, Sort - Users are no longer limited to sorting only on the first column. They can produce the exact view they are interested in by sorting on any column in a report.

Beyond 20/20 Web Data Server and Beyond 20/20 Perspective with Microsoft Windows NT Load Balancing System

Beyond 20/20 Web Data Server (version 6.0 and higher) and Beyond 20/20 Perspective can be used with Microsoft Windows NT Load Balancing System (WLBS). You can cluster together up to 32 computers to form one Web Data Server (WDS) installation using WLBS.

Using a cluster of machines provides the following benefits:

  • Scalability - increase capacity of WDS by adding more computers as required.
  • Reliability - a failure in one computer will not bring down the system.

For more information about installation and system requirements, and where you can download WLBS, please visit the FAQ section of the Support page on the Beyond 20/20 Web site at http://www.beyond2020.com/support/faq/FAQ_index.html. Your previously assigned User Name and Password will enable you to access this information. If you do not have this information, please speak with the Beyond 20/20 contact person within your organization.

Tip of the Month

Did you know in the Beyond 20/20 Builder when you define a source field with a name ending with a number, the next field you add will automatically be labeled with the next number?

Once you have created the report or chart that you want to include in your Microsoft Word document, go to Printable Version in the Options section of WDS. Then Select All and Copy. Next, open your Microsoft Word document and Paste the image. You can also place the image in your Word file by dragging and dropping it from WDS.

These reports and charts from WDS can also then be included in a PowerPoint presentation. In your Word document Select All and Copy. Then open your PowerPoint presentation and under the Edit menu select Paste Special, as Microsoft Word Document Object. After these simple steps you will have the reports and charts from Beyond 20/20 WDS in your PowerPoint presentation.

Alternatively, you can save a static report view as HTML and send via e-mail.
