Beyond 20/20 Software to Assist in Nation-Wide Transportation Planning

50,000 to 60,000 CDs containing national transportation data will be distributed across the United States using Beyond 20/20's desktop product

Ottawa, Canada – December 10, 2002 – Beyond 20/20 has been awarded a contract to supply its data dissemination software to the U.S. Census Bureau. In partnership with leading solutions integrator CENTECH GROUP Inc. and GIS experts Digital Engineering Corporation, Beyond 20/20 will combine its unique data dissemination technology with GIS mapping functionality. The resulting solution will be a part of the Census Bureau's Transportation Planning Package (CTPP) 2000 to disseminate transportation data nationwide.

Transportation planners will use the technology to analyze information based on household, workplace and origin-destination commuter flow data for major U.S. centers. It will include data from the 2000 Census, which will be distributed across the country on an estimated 50,000 to 60,000 CDs.

Along with the data, the CD-ROMs will include a customized version of the Beyond 20/20 Publication Browser. This desktop product enables users to manipulate data tables, browse information, and enhance the data display by creating a variety of charts and maps. Mapping capabilities, provided by Digital Engineering Corp., will enable users to drill down - all the way to groups of city blocks - to access transportation data for any location covered by the survey. Beyond 20/20 and Digital Engineering Corp. will integrate the technologies and CENTECH GROUP will manage the entire project.

"The U.S. Census Bureau has used Beyond 20/20's dissemination technology on past projects," said Bill Lidington, president of Beyond 20/20 Inc. "With a project of this magnitude, we're happy to partner with the CENTECH GROUP and with Digital Engineering Corp. to build a comprehensive dissemination package for transportation data."

Customization work is currently being done in a joint effort by DEC and Beyond 20/20. The completed CDs will be released in two phases, finishing in mid-2003.
