Beyond 20/20 Meets Section 508 Accessibility Standards

  • Accessibility to Beyond 20/20 software is extended to disabled persons
  • U.S. Government agencies can use Beyond 20/20 software barrier-free

Ottawa, Canada - October 26, 2001 – Beyond 20/20 Inc, a leading developer of data dissemination and knowledge discovery software, announced today that Beyond 20/20 Web Data Server has passed an official review for compliance to accessibility standards under section 508 of the U.S. Rehabilitation Act. People with disabilities now have access to its web-based reporting software.

In complying with Section 508 requirements, Beyond 20/20 continues to demonstrate full commitment to its growing number of U.S.-based government clients, including such organizations as the U.S. Census Bureau, STAT-U.S.A, the U.S. Department of Education and the National Center for Health Statistics.

Section 508 was enacted to encourage the development of technologies that eliminate the barriers faced by people with disabilities when accessing information technology. The law applies to U.S. Federal agencies when they develop, purchase or maintain such technologies. Each agency must provide disabled employees and members of the public comparable access to information as that which is provided to all others.

As a producer of web-based software products, Beyond 20/20 has the philosophy of making its Beyond 20/20 Web Data Server easily available to all potential end users. Compliance with Section 508 is an important step forward. "We think organizations committed to 508 compliancy will receive this news very positively, and we are happy to be part of it," said Jean Carr, vice president of sales and marketing for Beyond 20/20 Inc. "By meeting the 508 Standard, government agencies will experience a smoother, faster implementation process."
